ABOUT THE STUDY

Physical Health and Brain Health are Connected

A study in Finland found that a combination of physical and memory exercise, a balanced diet, and social activity protected memory and other thinking abilities in healthy older adults who were at increased risk of memory loss.

So far no medications can rival this positive outcome.

The UC Davis’ Brain Boosters Study is an 18-month study, guiding participants through healthier lifestyle changes and memory support strategies training to determine if these changes can improve brain health and protect against memory loss caused by aging.

This study is in partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

You May be Eligible if:

You are 65 or older and do not exercise regularly (less than 3 times per week).

You are concerned about future memory loss or feel your memory isn’t as sharp as it used to be.

WHY JOIN?

Seeing you thrive is your family’s greatest wish.

Taking care of yourself and living a healthier life is important, not only for you but for your family.
Healthy lifestyle changes now can have a positive effect on you and your family’s future.

There’s no better way to make those changes than by teaming up with healthcare professionals who can provide guidance and support to help you reach your goals.

Getting involved in a study to prevent memory loss can really enrich your life.

You are an important part of finding a cure for dementia.

Studies have found that Latino adults are at higher risk for developing memory and thinking issues than non-Latino white adults.

Researchers nationwide are trying to understand why some people who experience symptoms like these may develop Alzheimer’s disease or other brain disorders so that they can find ways to prevent memory decline that can benefit all.

By participating in the UCD Brain Boosters study, you may help make new discoveries to protect our Latino community from these diseases.

Your involvement truly makes a difference.
